Angel Hernandez was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday for the heinous attack on the 74-year-old woman.
A sicko who tried to rape a 74-year-old woman in an elevator at the East Harlem housing project where she lives was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison.
Angel Hernandez, 51, pleaded guilty last year to the heinous attempted rape at the victim’s home in the Johnson Houses around 11:15 a.m. on Feb. 26, 2013.
Hernandez dragged the defenseless victim to the elevator where he ripped off her clothing.
The assault was thwarted when good Samaritans alerted cops, who rescued the terrified woman.
“Any assault on the elderly is indefensible; this one was base and shameless,” said District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. “Thankfully, others were able to intervene and stop the defendant.”
Hernandez will be under the supervision for 14 years after his release from prison.
