A brother and sister are recovering in the hospital after police say the brother tried to protect his sister from her boyfriend.
Police say the woman was at the apartment she shares with her boyfriend gathering her things after their breakup when the pair started fighting.
The boyfriend allegedly started stabbing her, which is when her brother rushed in to protect her.
Police say that's when the man grabbed a gun and started shooting at her brother.
The man left the scene, and police are on the lookout in the area near the intersection of University Court and Carroll Street.
The brother and sister are both in the hospital and are both expected to survive.
